FAQs

How do I sign Up?
Email Sara at [email protected]. Include your name, and what date you would like to begin.

How do I “Pause” my subscription?
Email Sara at [email protected]. Include your name, the date you are “skipping” and when you are resuming. To pause you must email by TUESDAY of the week you won’t be picking up your vegetables.

What will be in my box each week?
A standard share will have about 10 different, seasonally appropriate fruit and vegetables. A standard share is a good amount of food for two people who cook about 4 nights a week. If you select a small share, you get about half as much and is more in tune with a single person cooking 4 nights a week.

Where do the vegetables come from?
Our goal is to support small and local farmers who grow sustainably. We are primarily purchasing from Smucker Farms, Tuscarora Organic Farmer’s Co-op, and Bounty Hill Farms. Additional produce may also come from Up Top Acres

What does “sustainably grown” mean?
We buy from a variety of farms, some of which are certified organic, others who are in the process of attaining their certifications, and still others who don’t use chemical-based pesticides or fertilizers, use crop rotation, and integrated pest management in their farming practices.

How is Brainfood Homegrown “youth-led”?
All of our prepared foods (chick peas, kale chips and sweet potato chips) are the recipes of and created by Brainfood graduates. Fran and Briana are both in the kitchen, as well as working the stand at Union Market. As our business grows we will be hiring additional Brainfood students and graduates.
