Welcome to Summer

Welcome to Summer Institute 2015! We have amazing students who are fun, spirited, and masters of the kitchen. Delicious two-part recipes: cheddar biscuits with an herb butter and red velvet sandwhich cookies. It doesn't get any better than this!

                                                                                           
Katie is a master baker! She enjoys making biscuits and treats of ALL kinds at home. During our vegan baking class she masterfully iced our fudgy beet cupcakes. They were delicious!      

We got really excited about our field trip to the Brainfood youth garden! Our class got to walk around the garden and find one thing they recognized and one thing they did not--we feel a little bad for the bean plant since no one knew what she was. 

As a class we harvested carrots and beets to use in our baking. I must say our baked goods tasted EVEN BETTER thanks to our fresh produce. 

                                                                       
It is hard to believe how fast the summer is flying by. We moved into our knife skills unit and participants created this unbelievable ratatouille. Althought it doesn't look exactly like the one from the movie, it is safe to say that is smelled and tasted just like we would have imagined.
