Guest Chef Shanna brought a taste of Asian Cuisine!

This past week we were fortunate to have another great Chef visit us in the Brainfood kitchen during our international week. Chef Shanna Follansbee, Chef/Cookbook Author is the chef/owner of Fine Dining Solutions, brought us a taste of Asia!

 Chef Shanna shared her background in education and job experience, how she got started cooking, her style of cooking and cooking philosophy and how she incorporates cooking into her daily life. She also shared with us what brought her interest in cooking Asian food. The dishes she showed us how to prepare were: Tom Kha Gai, Nasi Goreng, and Thai Buddhist Phad Se-Eiw Tempeh.
This also was a special class because Brainfoods Kitchen All Stars paired with Brainfoods MVPs as we took this adventure to Asia, experimenting with our minds and taste buds. The students were eager to try and cook all of the delicious different recipes.  Each of the recipes was unique in their own manner. The Tom Kha Gai was an Asian styled soup with a rich coconut flavor. Nasi Goreng was fried rice with vegetables.  The students also prepared a Thai Buddhist Phad Se-Eiw Tempeh which was a type of rice noodle dish that contained tempeh, a soy product, which was a new ingredient that we have not cooked with this year at Brainfood, so that was exciting!
We finished in our usual way…as the Brainfood family always does… Around the table, with stuffed bellies and shared our favorite parts of preparing the Asian dishes!  Check out our pictures below of some of our dishes we prepared and our great group photo!
